well, i guess racist sentiments against natural black hair are deemed legitimate if Nivea can run a national ad campaign displaying a man throwing a decapitated afro with the caption “RE-CIVILIZE YOURSELF.”
Yes western imperialism. Still declaring everything different as “uncivilized” i see? COOL

what the FUCKnever buying nivea again

Oh, dammit.
I recognize this ad and have seen it before, but I didn’t realize it was Nivea.
I recently bought some lotion on sale without thinking :/.
I don’t even think they apologized for this.

oh boy this is totes what i wanted to see first thing in the morning
it’s all good, tho, cause nivea has shit product that don’t work on black people anyway
be lookin ashy and you just lotioned and shit

this is old. this came out like, last year i think? and there was a big shitstorm and they ended up pulling the ad.

yeah, i know its old. my OP didn’t say that though. But that “unpopular opinion” about natural hair being ugly and compared to cancer reminded me of this. doesn’t matter if its tumblr or national advertising strategies - anti-blackness disguised as hair-policing is always an acceptable and even promoted.

Re-Civilize yourself my behind!!!! start using products for black folks, by black folks!
